Mangalore, Oct 13: The
Indian post organized a business meet at their head office here in Pandeshwar
on Thursday October 11.
The business meet also
turned out to be a grievance meet as many of the customers came forward with
their woes placing deficiency in postal services.
Speaking on the occasion,
Harish TB, manager of speed post briefed on the services provided by Indian
post. He said the main aim of the business meet was to create awareness among
the people on the postal services.
Marking its history for 150
years, Indian post has been upgrading and adding new services depending on the
customer needs at affordable cost, he added.
Services like speed post,
express parcel post mainly for the corporate sector with large volume of
parcels, business post, bill mail service, direct post, e-post, IMO (instant
money order), logistic post (parcel beyond 35 kgs with door to door facility),
e-payment, media post, retail post, new pension scheme (18 to 55 years), postal
life insurance and many others are being offered, he said.
Customers also came forward
to place their grievances during the meet.
Prakash Bhat, one of the
customers, said that the postal services are lacking in various aspects.
Despite providing a number of services at affordable costs, it lacks efficiency
in operation, he alleged.
Bhat said that there is
delay in delivery of speed post, insufficient postal orders, poor operations at
the post office and many others.
Another customer stated
that a consignment worth Rs 1.5 lac sent by him has been misplaced.
In response to this,
Chandrashekar K, senior superintendent of post offices assured its customers
with return of the cost for their lost articles. Sometimes there is a delay in
speed post as the postmen are not guided properly, he added.
He also assured customers to
expect the best services in the future.
Maxi G Pinto, KRN Moorthy, senior post master, Laxminarayan, Harish
TB, Purandar, Niranjan and other officials of the Indian post were present.
